Feedback on the Dell Optiplex 5060 (201709-25761)

Asked by Ertan ERISIK

Hi,

The system is currently running ubuntu 16.04 and I want to upgrade it to the latest version. But when I run the command below :
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
I got nothing but the following:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Calculating upgrade... Done
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.

What am i missing here? It seems 16.04 is end of life and I need to upgrade it. Do I need to add or change repositories. Currently it seems Dell repositories exist.

Thank you very much for your guidance.

Standard support for Ubuntu 16.04 will end in April 2021.

Upgrading to a newer Ubuntu release is not done with the command "apt-get dist-upgrade", but with the command

sudo do-release-upgrade

You should care for a backup of all your files that are worth being kept, just for the case that something goes wrong during the release upgrade.

Can you help with this problem?
