generation problem for HWW

Asked by Zhenglaing Guo

Dear experts:

When generating events for p p > h, h > w+ w- > l+ vl l- vl~, using:
import model heft
generate p p > h, h > w+ w- > l+ vl l- vl~
output HWWheft
launch HWWheft
I found most events in the lhe file has only 8 particles(including only 1 W boson of mass about 80GeV), and for a small part of the events, there are 9 particles(including the 2 W bosons of mass about 60GeV).
Could you please tell me why this happens? Many thanks in advance!

Best regards

You can reduce the bwcutoff parameter of the run_card to 10,
this will effectively prevent any double "W" to be written within the event if you like.
Now this is anyway not very critical since the parton-shower should not be very sensitive (if at all) to the fact that you
have 8 or 9 particle here since the main constraint here is anyway the Higgs onshell (and that none of your W decay into QCD particle anyway.

Cheers,

Olivier

Dear Olivier:

Thanks very much for you response. Could you please tell me why madgraph gives the information for only one W boson in one event? This makes me quite confused. Thank you very much!

Best regards

Because only particle consider as onshell are/should be written in the file.
The fact that you write such particle indicates the parton-shower that any radiation should preserve such mass.

Cheers,

Olivier

Thanks Olivier Mattelaer, that solved my question.
